Great Walks season: Late October - late April

The Kepler Track in one of NZ's 9 Great Walks. DOC maintains the track and offers a walking experience for people who like to explore the great outdoors on their own terms - no guide and carrying all of their own gear.
The Kepler Track is a loop track taking you from the gentle, beech-forested shores of lakes Te Anau and Manapouri to the tussocky alpine tops of grand Mt Luxmore.
During the Great Walks season huts have bunks, mattresses, heating, toilets, basic cooking facilities, solar-powered lighting and cold running water, and a DOC ranger is in residence. No cooking utensils or showers. Campsites offer basic facilities including toilets, sinks and a water supply. Some also have picnic tables and cooking shelters. Bookings are essential. During the winter months (May to October) the track remains open, but with reduced facilities and additional safety risks to consider.

Physical Address: Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre, Lakefront Drive, Te Anau
